Terms and Conditions
Statement of Risk:
Riverside Paddle offers paddling experiences and food/accommodation for adults (18+) and under 18s when accompanied by their parents/guardians. Participants must acknowledge the inherent risks associated with being on, or near, the water and doing outdoor activities and act in their own best interests.
Participants should be made aware that there is a likelihood that falling into the water may occur. If this worries a participant, please advise the Riverside Paddle in advance of booking your experience. Riverside Paddle reserves the right to cancel or modify the activity if it believes there to be an unacceptable risk attached to offering an activity to the public e.g. in the event of flooding or high winds.
Statement of Physical Ability:
Paddlesport is a physical activity and participants should be aware of the expectations of the activity e.g. expect to be on the water for a number of hours over the course of the day. It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that they have an adequate level of fitness and confidence to take part in the activity they are booking. If there are concerns over fitness, these should be raised and discussed with Riverside Paddle at the time of booking.
Health Declaration:
All participants will be required to complete a medical disclaimer and acknowledgement of risk form, at time of booking. Full, honest disclosure is required and participants will only be allowed onto the water once a health declaration form has been completed and submitted. If medication needs to be taken onto the water, a plan will be made with Riverside Paddle for keeping the medication safe, dry and accessible during the experience. If full disclosure is not given and only comes to light once the experience has commenced, and if it is deemed unsafe for the participant to continue, Riverside Paddle reserves the right to ask participants to leave the experience with no refund given.
If any participant is in any doubt as to their health & wellbeing to take part in the proposed activities, they must consult with their doctor and obtain an appropriate note to proceed.
Participants must be confident in the water and able to swim 25 metres.

All participants must follow the guidance and instructions from Riverside Paddle to ensure their own safety and the safety of other participants. This includes launching and landing locations, behaviour on the water, lifting and portaging equipment, and always wearing buoyancy aids when on the water, appropriate behaviour around an open fire. Riverside Paddle leaders should be treated with respect and courtesy. Any participants deemed to be rude, disruptive or endangering others will be asked to leave the activity and will not be eligible for a refund.
Equipment Rental:
Riverside Paddle is not responsible for the use of the equipment. We will provide a safety briefing including relating to mitigations identified in our risk assessments that hirers will be asked to conform with, but we do not provide paddleboarding instruction on unguided rentals. We only provide equipment to be used under the skills and abilities of the hirer, we require no proof of ability and offer no advice or instruction in the use of the equipment beyond safety advice. Riverside Paddle accepts no responsibility for any injury, loss, or damage to the hirer, any third party, or property arising from the use of the equipment during the hire period, unless caused by the company's negligence.
Riverside Paddle is not responsible for the supervision or instruction of the person or persons hiring this equipment. The primary hirer must be 18 years of age or over and any children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Riverside Paddle requires all hirers to wear a Buoyancy Aid at all times while on the water. Hirers must understand the dangers of paddling on flowing or still water and understand that weather can play a factor in paddling safety and that such activities are subject to the unpredictable forces of nature. Hirers must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Any rented items must be returned on the stated day in the condition in which they were received. Any equipment damaged beyond the scope of general wear and tear to be expected through normal usage will be charged for at full retail price for replacement or repair if deemed appropriate, regardless of how damage was caused. Riverside Paddle acts in good will when hiring out equipment and as such expects such from the hirer. We reserve the right to withdraw and collect our equipment at any point and for any reason during a hire period.
Hirers should check they are satisfied that the equipment is in a serviceable condition before departing.
